The College of Law congratulates New Zealand Board Director Ed Crook on his appointment to the High Court of New Zealand.
On 24 July, New Zealand's Attorney-General, Chris Bishop, announced Ed's appointment.
Ed has served as a Director on the College's New Zealand Board since 2007.
Board Chair Chris Moore congratulated Ed on his appointment.
"Ed has been an outstanding member of the College's New Zealand Board. The College has benefited greatly from his commitment and service. This appointment is a fitting recognition of his distinguished legal career. On behalf of the New Zealand Board, I congratulate Ed and wish him every success in this important role."
Ed joined Russell McVeagh in 1999 and became a partner in 2004. Throughout his career he has specialised in real estate and construction law, advising institutional investors and developers in New Zealand and internationally. He chaired Russell McVeagh's Real Estate and Construction team for many years and most recently served as Chair of the partnership.
Group Chief Executive Officer Marcus Martin thanked Ed for his service to the College.

Ed's appointment takes effect on 24 August 2026.
